Consumer Disclosure
Last updated: [OWNER: effective date]
This page summarizes rights that apply to every Approved Disputes customer under the Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA) and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). It supplements, and does not replace, the full services agreement and the separate "Consumer Credit File Rights Under State and Federal Law" statement you receive when you sign up.
Your rights under CROA
- Right to cancel. You may cancel your services agreement without penalty or obligation within 3 business days from the date you sign it.
- No advance fees. We do not charge any fee before the corresponding service has actually been performed.
- Right to sue. You have the right to sue a credit repair organization that violates CROA.
- A written contract is required, disclosing the services to be performed, the total cost, and your cancellation rights.
Your rights under the FCRA
- You may dispute inaccurate or incomplete information in your credit report directly with the credit reporting company, yourself, for free — you are never required to use a paid service to do this.
- You are entitled to a free copy of your credit report from each nationwide credit reporting company through AnnualCreditReport.com, and an additional free report if you are denied credit based on your report.
- Credit reporting companies generally must investigate a dispute, usually within 30 days (45 days in some cases), and must correct or delete information that is found to be inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable.
- Accurate, verifiable, and current negative information may remain on your report even after a dispute — the FCRA gives you the right to have inaccurate information corrected, not the right to remove accurate information.
State-specific disclosure
[OWNER: Insert the state-specific credit-services consumer disclosure text required in the states where clients are enrolled. This must be confirmed against each applicable state's credit-services organization statute before publishing.]
What Approved Disputes does and does not do
We help you review your credit report for items that appear inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or unverifiable, and we help you prepare correspondence to the credit reporting companies and furnishers. You review and approve every letter before it is sent. We do not create a new credit identity, advise using a CPN or EIN in place of your SSN, dispute information we know to be accurate, or guarantee any specific outcome, score change, or timeframe.
